Narrow points lead for Max after night one.

Australian Sprintcar Champion Max Dumesny carries a narrow one point lead over Robbie Farr into night two of the 2001/02 Qld Sprintcar Title following the first night of action at Brisbane International Speedway on April 26. Dumesny, with two qualifying heat race wins and a sixth placing for a total haul of fifty-six (56) points to show for his night's efforts, was never really troubled throughout the evening and managed to run down and pass defending Champion Farr in the final heat of the night to secure the points lead. Farr is amongst a trio of chasers on the tail of the Australia 1 Valvoline Maxim that should comfortably advance to the pole shuffle with one round of qualifying heats remaining.

Former National Champion Garry Brazier and Qld's own Darren Jensen, with 53 and 50 points respectively, loom as the major threats to Dumesny's and Farr's Title chances with Cameron Gessner (45), Peter Thorley (43), Darrell Hodges (41) and Tony Bridge (37) making up the top eight drivers after the completion of the three rounds of heat races. NSW drivers Adrian Maher (35) and Brett Loadsman along with second-generation Qld racer Adam Tulloch (tied on 33 points) are the other drivers with the best chances of making it through to the eight man pole shuffle on Saturday night.

Ben Wright brought out the only red flag of the evening in Heat 5 when he flipped his #07 Stealth racer in turn one on the second lap. For additional information on Qld Sprintcar Racing, visit us on the web at www.raceteams.com.au/qsr
