14 January, 2003 - After a sensational showing at last weekend's Parts Plus $50,000 to win event American Sensation, Jeff Shepard will fly home to Maryland, America tomorrow (Thursday 15th) due an illness of a close member of the Shepard family.

"I really want to stay but right now my family needs me back home and my friends and family mean more than any race," said Shepard.

The Disbury Family Racing team completely understand Shepard's situation and support the 31-year-old in his decision to fly home to assist in the support of his family and friends.

"There are plenty more races to be won but as we all know family is what makes us the people we are today and without supporting each other through life it would be real tough," commented Darren Disbury "I wish Jeff and the Shepard family all the best through this tough time."

At this stage plans are unclear on what will happen over the next two weeks for the team.

"We are optimistic that Jeff may be able to make it back for Classic but we will just have to wait and see. At this stage we are talking to a couple of guys who have driven for us in the past to fill the seat," Disbury said.
