The Cajun sensation joins DFR

8 September, 2003 - After into the Australian Sprintcar limelight with Jeff Shepard over the past two seasons the Disbury Family Racing team will this year have the "Cajun Sensation" Jason Johnson as their leading driver.

Johnson will come to Australia fresh from a full season with the All Star Circuit of Champions Series where he is currently in second in the points. The 26-year-old Eunice, Louisiana native has won as many feature races as the Championship leader with 5 A-Main victories this year.

After a sensational season in 2002 where Johnson captured six major victories and finished second in the 360 Nationals and fourth in the All Star and NCRA Outlaw Series'.

However his year was topped off in sensational fashion in Johnson's first trip to Australia when he took out the West Australian Speedweek in sensational fashion with his hard charging stomp and steer style of driving.

Johnson comes to the team highly recommended by Jerry Russell of Eagle Chassis. He is also recommended by Shepard who will return with the team in the future (stay tuned for further information on that one).

"Jason is certainly keen to come out here and we are very keen to have someone to his calibre in our car, I'm sure he will do a great job," said team owner Darren Disbury.

Another part of the exciting news from the high profile South Australian team is that they will also be joining forces with Craft Brothers Racing to make a two car assault on the World Series Sprintcar Championship with the two drivers being Johnson and former Champion, Brad "Hollywood" Heywood.

It will be the first time that both teams have competed in the entire World Series schedule. "It is going to be an tough and hard year on the road but by joining together we will be able to use the resources available to the full potential," said Peter Craft from his Sydney Craft Differentials workshop this morning.

The Craft Disbury Racing team have some very exciting corporate partners lined up for the season ahead that will be revealed next month.
