RAIN CANCELS WILLIAMS GROVE - TWIN 20'S NEXT WEEK

MECHANICSBURG PA --Rain forced the cancellation of the Friday, August 14 racing program scheduled for Williams Grove speedway. It was the eighth rain out of the season. The next racing program at the Grove will be Friday, August 21 with the running of the Jack Gunn Memorial Twin 20's.

The format for this Twin 20 event will be to utilize the Grove's normal qualifying procedures and handicapping to determine starting positions for the first twenty lap feature event. The winner will then draw for inversion of the second twenty lap race. There will be no time trials.

Each twenty lap feature will carry a separate payoff and the feature win is worth $2500. There will also be points awarded for each feature towards the Cindy Rowe Auto Glass point standings. Drivers are beginning to look at their position in the point battle and Fred Rahmer and Lance Dewease returned from the Knoxville Nationals to compete in Friday's program. Both competitors had to return to the Nationals without turning a lap at their home track.

The All Star Circuit of Champions will make their only appearance of the season at Williams Grove on Friday, August 28. The previously scheduled All Star event was rained out on May 1. The 358 Sprint B-Main which has been postponed twice will be run along with the All Star show. The nineteen eligible drivers will race for twelve laps.

The 358 Sprints will have a championship race at Williams Grove on Friday, September 25.
