SPRINT CARS TO INVADE UTICA-ROME SPEEDWAY FIVE TIMES IN 2006
VERNON, NY- Fans of the open wheel Sprint cars will have 5 opportunities during 2006 season to see them at the Utica-Rome Speedway. The Empire Super Sprints (ESS) will have their 3 traditional holiday dates on Memorial Day, Independence Day, and Labor Day weekends while the Patriot Sprint Group (PSG) and the Capital Region Sprint Car Association (CRSA) will have one date each.
ESS has become one of the top touring 360 Sprint Car Tours in the Northeast since its inception in the mid 1980's and the racing action whenever the visit the Vernon oval has had the fans on the edges of their seats. The Patriot Sprints, another local 360 Sprint organization, will again attempt to hold their first event at the speedway as they lost their first attempt last October. The CRSA is out of Eastern New York, and is an organization for the 305 cubic inch powered sprinter. The smaller Sprint Cars of the Central New York Mini Sprints will also make multiple visits to the Utica-Rome Speedway in 2006 with a tentative schedule of 4 dates. The Mini Sprints utilize the smaller inner oval at the speedway that suits their smaller cars and motors perfectly. More information in the Mini Sprints can be found at www.cnyms.com.
Utica-Rome Speedway's first race date is set for April 30 when the reschedule Pumpkin Pie event from 2005 will take place with the $3,000 to win 100 lap event for the Pro Stocks joined by the Patriot Sprint Group, Central New York Mini Sprints, Sportsman, Pure Stocks, and the Four Cylinder Super Stocks. The following Sunday, May 7, will see the first regular event of the season featuring the 358-Modifieds, Sportsman, Pro Stocks, Pure Stocks, and IMCA Modifieds.
