O'REILLY USCS OPENS SOUTHERN THUNDER TOUR POINTS RACE THIS FRIDAY NIGHT IN SWAINSBORO, GA

FAYETTEVILLE, GA - The O'Reilly United Sprint Car Series opens it new Southern Thunder Tour regional series this Friday night at Swainsboro Raceway in Swainsboro, GA. The race will also carry National points. The O'Reilly USCS Southern Thunder Tour events will be held during the 2005 season in East Tennessee, Georgia, Florida, and East Alabama.

The O'Reilly Southern Thunder Tour will offer its own point fund for the top ten drivers, as well as its own Rookie of the Year Award. Along with the Southern Thunder Tour, the O'Reilly USCS also has the Carolina Thunder Tour, and the Mid-South Thunder Tour regional tours.

The Carolina Thunder Tour competes in North and South Carolina, Virginia, and Eastern Georgia. The Mid-South Tour competes in West Tennessee, West Alabama, and Mississippi. It all wraps around the O'Reilly USCS Outlaw Thunder National Tour that features a 65-race schedule in 2005 on both dirt and asphalt tracks.

The Asphalt Thunder Tour competes at paved short tracks throughout the Southeastern United States, making the O'Reilly USCS the only winged outlaw sprint car series in the country to compete on both surfaces.

This Saturday night, the O'Reilly USCS National Outlaw Thunder Tour, Southern Thunder Tour, and the Carolina Thunder Tour will join forces at Oglethorpe Speedway Park in Savannah, GA. The race will also pay double show-up points for the Carolina Thunder Tour.

This Friday night at Swainsboro Raceway, the pit gate opens at 4 p.m., with hot laps at 6:30 p.m., and racing scheduled for 8 p.m. The O'Reilly USCS will compete in the 6-lap Air Flow Research Power Dash, heat races, and a 30-lap feature race. The Swainsboro Raceway local divisions will also be in action on the 4/10-mile clay oval.

Swainsboro Raceway is a track where the fastest car and the best driver don't always win the race. O'Reilly USCS competitors have found that tire management is just as important as speed, skill, and courage. The O'Reilly USCS driver roster shows competitors that have all of the above.

Among the entrants expected at Swainsboro Raceway are Kenny Adams of Malabar, FL and Danny Martin Jr. of Sarasota, FL, who both picked up O'Reilly USCS victories last season at Swainsboro Raceway. Adams and Martin are currently tied for the point lead in the Carolina Thunder Tour.

Other top entrants include the current National point leader, and the defending and four-time O'Reilly USCS National Champion Terry Gray of Bartlett, TN, Ryan Myers of Eldorado, OH, Rookie of the Year contenders Matt Tiffany of Daytona Beach, FL, Bryn Gohn of Malabar, FL, Stephen Darvalics of Venice, FL, Bruce Cline of Apex, NC, Josh Harris of Denton, NC, and Dustin Apple of Elon, NC.

Also look for the 2004 O'Reilly USCS Rookie of the Year R.J. Johnson of Decatur, TN, Brian Thomas of Auburn, GA, the father-son team of Tom Winegardner Sr. and Jr., Danny Mercy of Warrenton, NC, Steve Osborne of Sharpsburg, GA, Paul Sides of Bartlett, TN, Chad Allum of Kannapolis, NC, Erin Crocker of Huntersville, NC, and Bobby Courtwright of Evans, GA.

The 4/10-mile clay oval at Swainsboro Raceway is located two miles north of U.S. Highway 80 on State Road 56.
