O'REILLY USCS VETERANS VS. YOUNG GUNS THIS SATURDAY IN FAYETTEVILLE, NC

FAYETTEVILLE, NC - The 2005 O'Reilly United Sprint Car Series season is ready for round 39 this Saturday night with a return visit to Fayetteville Motor Speedway presented by Courtney Baker Plumbing. This season has been a year of seasoned veterans versus a group of drivers under the age of 25 called the SpeedMart Young Guns.

This season, six drivers under the age of 20 have won 12 O'Reilly USCS events, and five of those drivers have posted their first series wins this season.

Bryn Gohn of Malabar, FL will return to the scene of his first O'Reilly USCS career win at Fayetteville Motor Speedway this Saturday night. The 19-year-old driver is fourth in the O'Reilly USCS National point standings, and he also leads the Robison Racing Products Rookie of the Year point standings. Gohn's win at FMS came on July 16.

Matt Tiffany of Daytona Beach, FL is fresh off his first O'Reilly USCS career win last Saturday night on the pavement at Lanier National Speedway in Braselton, GA. Tiffany has come close to winning on the dirt, and the 16-year-old driver, who is fifth in National points and second in the Rookie points, will be looking for a win at Fayetteville Motor Speedway on Saturday night.

The O'Reilly USCS is the only winged outlaw sprint car series in the country that competes for national points on both dirt and asphalt short tracks. The SpeedMart Young Guns have excelled on both surfaces.

Sixteen-year-old Kevin Swindell of Bartlett, TN has four O'Reilly USCS Asphalt Thunder wins this season, and 17-year-old Ricky Stenhouse Jr. of Olive Branch, MS has three wins on the dirt in O'Reilly USCS Mid-South Thunder Tour regional action. Another first-time O'Reilly USCS winner this season is 19-year-old Justin Collett of Townsend, DE.

Danny Martin Jr. of Sarasota, FL has two wins this season, one on dirt, and one on asphalt. The 19-year-old driver is second in the O'Reilly USCS National point standings, and was the leader in the series youth movement last season as the National Championship Runner-Up with four wins.

Two other SpeedMart Young Guns are in the top ten of the O'Reilly USCS National points chase with 18-year-old R.J. Johnson of Decatur, TN in the sixth spot, and 18-year-old Ryan Myers of Eldorado, OH in the eighth position.

These SpeedMart Young Guns have had some seasoned veterans of championship caliber to learn from.

Kenny Adams of Malabar, FL is the current O'Reilly USCS National points leader with 13 wins this season. Adams is the all-time series career winner with 88 victories, and the winningest winged outlaw sprint car driver in the 21st Century with 128 victories since the 2000 season, when he was the O'Reilly USCS National Champion.

Terry Gray of Bartlett, TN is the defending and four-time O'Reilly USCS National Champion, and is currently third in the National series points with two wins. Gray has ten winged outlaw national championships on his resume.

"These kids are the most competitive group of young drivers I've ever raced against," Adams said. "They have a lot of talent, and they've really made us older guys race a little harder than maybe we'd like to."

The respect is mutual among the Young Guns, who look to the veterans to make them better race car drivers and understand the mechanics of the race cars a little better.

"Kenny Adams and Terry Gray are our mentors," Tiffany said. "They both have worked with all of us younger drivers, and to me, that's what makes racing with the O'Reilly USCS beneficial, having guys like Kenny and Terry teaching us how to race. You might not get that with other series."

Fayetteville Motor Speedway is located off I-95 at exit 46, then 1.3 miles Southeast on State Road 87, then 1.5 miles Southwest on Doc Bennett Road. The race track phone number is (910) 223-7223, and the website is www.fayettevillemotorspeedway.net.
