Auto Tire and Parts Racepark to host final leg of USCS Show-Me Shootout.
The Auto Tire and Parts Racepark in Benton, Mo will host the final day of the two-day tour of the United Sprint Car Series (USCS) through Missouri in the Show-Me Shootout on Sep. 21. The visit will be the first and only race of the year for the 360 cid Winged Limited Sprints at the 3/8th dirt oval. The event at the Missouri track will pay $2,000 to the winner.
U.S.C.S. sprint cars weigh approximately 1300 pounds and their fuel injected 360 cubic inch engines produce 650 to 700 horsepower. The United Sprint Car Series (U.S.C.S.) sanctions and promotes winged outlaw style sprint car racing at major venues in the United States on Asphalt and Dirt ovals. The Winged Sprints are identical to the cars ran at Benton each weekend with the exception of the cubic inch displacement.
Terry Gray, Bartlett, Tenn., currently leads the USCS points series standing with 10 wins to his credit this year. Gray is the brother-in-law of former World of Outlaw champion Sammy Swindell. Doug Day sits in second with Chris Rodgers following behind him in third. Former 360 driver of the year Kenny Adams of Florida has recorded seven wins this year and maintains the seventh place position.
Several local drivers are expected to compete for the $2,000 top prize, including Daron Clayton of Sikeston. Clayton, who just graduated high school in May already has several feature wins in the Winged Sprint division and will be hunting for his first National traveling series win.
Clayton finished second in the track championship points standing in the Winged Sprint division at Auto Tire and Parts Racepark in his first full year of sprint car racing.
