Series opener postponed to next Friday, May 2nd

HANOVER, PA, 4/25/03 - At least this time, the 358 sprint cars got a chance to run hot laps before the rains came. But in the end, the result was the same. Rains arrived as the thundercars were circling the track preparing for hot laps, ending the Friday night program for the third straight week at the Hanover 1/3rd-mile oval.

Twenty (20) sprint cars were in the pits for the opening night of the 2003 Coors Light 358 Sprint Series. Among them were the Dietrichs (Dan, Billy, and Danny), Dale and Nate Hammaker, Judd Shepard, and Mike Bittinger. Also ready for action was defending Trail-Way 250cc micro-sprint champ Brad McClelland, who has announced his intention to contend for the Trail-Way 358 championship this year.

Both the thundercars and the street stocks had 22 cars on hand. The thundercars were to compete in a championship event, which will be rescheduled to a later date.

Trail-Way swings back into action tomorrow night, Saturday, April 26th, with 250cc & 600cc Micro-Sprints, Scramble Cars (4 & 6-cylinder), Figure 8's, and Vintage Stocks. Gates open at 4:45 PM, with racing at 7 PM.

Speedway officials have also announced a practice night for all divisions this Tuesday evening, April 29th, from 5-8 PM. Admission price will be $40 per driver. Crew members and spectators will be admitted free.

Next Friday night, May 2nd, Trail-Way will try for a fourth time to open the Coors Light 358 Sprint Series. Also on the program will be the 20-lap Auto Locator Street Stock Championship with $200 going to the winner and the thundercars. In addition, kids will be invited to compete in a one-lap foot race. Gates will open at 5:30 PM, with racing getting underway at 7:30 PM.
