Trail-Way Coors Light 358 Sprint Series opener canceled due to rain; $1,200-to-win Auto Locator 358 Sprint Spring Championship slated to open series next Friday, April 18th.
HANOVER, PA, 4/11/03 - Mother Nature strikes again!
Rain-plagued Central Pennsylvania saw more of the same Friday, April 11th, as showers moved into the area earlier in the day and showed no signs of letting up. With much regret, Trail-Way Speedway officials then announced the bad news - the 2003 season opener for the new Coors Light 358 Sprint Series was canceled. They, along with the thundercars and street stocks were forced to wait another week before opening a new era of racing at the Hanover oval.
But now for the good news!
Next Friday night, April 18th, the scheduled 358 Spring Championship carries even more importance.
Originally scheduled as the second race of the year, the new Coors Light 358 Sprint Series will now usher in the new era of racing at the lightning-fast one-third mile oval with a bigger than originally advertised Spring Championship.
The 31st season-opening race featuring the 358 sprints will now be the Auto Locator 358 Sprint Spring Championship. The 30 lap feature was originally scheduled to pay$1,000 to the winner. But what a difference a week can make as Auto Locator has just come on board as the title race sponsor and has upped the ante with the double-point feature now offering $1,200 to the winner, and, pay more money back through-out the starting feature field
So, let's review...
The bad news was tonight's Friday night April 11th season opener for the 358 sprints, thundercars and street stocks was rained-out.
The good news is:
* The April 18th event will now serve as Trail-Way Speedway's Friday night season opener
* The race will now server as the new Coors Light 358 Sprint Series opener
* Will feature the Auto Locator 358 Sprint Spring Championship
* Which will go 30 laps
* Be worth double points towards the series long points battle
* Pay $1,200 to the winner
* And offer more money back through the starting feature field.
It doesn't get much better than that!
The thundercar and street stock regulars will join in the festivities on Friday night, April 18th with gates open at 5:30 PM, and racing action getting underway at 7:30 PM.
STILL TWO DAYS OF RACING THIS WEEKEND
Trail-Way still has two more racing programs over the weekend with the 250cc & 600 cc micro-sprints, 4-Cylinder stock cars, scramble cars, and figure 8's in competition on Saturday night, April 12th, at 7 PM. Gates open at 4:45 PM.
Then on Sunday afternoon, April 13th, the AMA motorcycles will be on hand for a 1 PM show with gates opening at 10 AM.
Stay tuned as additional news and notes will highlight the action from Trail-Way Speedway over the next several weeks as they usher in a new era of racing action at the lightning-fast one-third mile oval in 2003.
