'TK' Records Third Straight Top-Five Finish at Ocean Speedway

Tim Kaeding is proving he's not only one of the fastest, but one of the most consistent drivers in sprint car racing.

When "TK" drove Tom Rolfe Racing's #10 J.F. McCray Plastering Maxim into third place in Friday's Golden State Challenge King of California "A" Feature at Ocean Speedway, it was his third consecutive top-five finish and sixth straight in the top 10.

Kaeding was the sixth-fastest qualifier with an 11.873-second lap around Watsonville's quarter-mile bullring, just .213 seconds off fast-qualifier Travis Rutz's pace. He started fifth in the Second Heat Race and passed his brother, Bud Kaeding, Kyle Hirst, Dan Simpson and Justin Sanders on his way to a second-place finish.

"TK," the 2002 Golden State Challenge King of California champion, passed Tyler Walker in the Dash for the right to start the main event inside the second row. After challenging for the lead several times in the thrilling "A" Feature, he joined winner Jason Meyers and runner-up Shane Stewart on the podium.

Kaeding beat Brandon Wimmer across the finish line to win a Golden State Challenge King of California race at Ocean Speedway last July 20th.

"TK" and his Tom Rolfe Racing teammates were scheduled to run a California 360 Civil War race at Placerville Speedway Saturday, but inclement weather forced officials to cancel the event. They will return to Placerville Saturday for another Golden State Challenge King of California race. Kaeding set the single-lap record of 9.913 seconds (90.789 MPH) at Placerville Speedway in a Golden State Challenge King of California race on March 27, 2004.
