'TK' Runs Second in Chico, Third in Quincy
QUINCY, CA (May 3) -- Tim Kaeding continues to keep the #10 J.F. McCray Plastering Maxim running up front no matter where Tom Rolfe Racing chooses to race.
"TK," a double-feature winner last weekend, put together another pair of podium finishes at Silver Dollar Speedway Friday and in Saturday's Golden State Challenge Series King of California Series event at American Valley Speedway.
The 1998 and 2001 Silver Dollar Speedway champion started outside the third row and followed Kyle Hirst and Tyler Walker under the checkered flag Friday.
Kaeding, the fifth-fastest qualifier -- just .229 seconds off fast-qualifier Jonathan Allard's pace -- was the runner-up in the First Heat Race behind Mason Moore.
"TK" and Allard were at it again Saturday, starting on the front row and battling each other around every inch of the 3/8-mile oval. While they raced wheel-to-wheel for much of the 30-lap main event, Kaeding maintained the lead because the #10 was stronger in the open track. Allard caught the 2002 Golden State Challenge King of California Series champion in lapped traffic, however, and passed him deep in the fourth corner late in lap 21. Tim threatened to regain the lead during the final nine laps, but finished a car-length behind.
"TK" was the fourth-fastest qualifier in Saturday's 23-car field, .421 seconds off fast-qualifier Tyler Walker's pace. Kaedings finished 2-4 in the Second Heat Race as daddy Brent was the runner-up, followed by sons Tim and Bud.
