Kaeding Races into Third Place at Mini Gold Cup

CHICO, CA (March 8) -- Tim Kaeding's attempt to win a third straight Mini Gold Cup resulted in a third-place finish Saturday at Silver Dollar Speedway.

Kaeding, who won the prestigious event in 2005 and 2007, made several runs at the lead before eventually bringing Tom Rolfe Racing's #10 J.F. McCray Plastering Maxim third behind fellow Californians Jason Meyers and Paul McMahan.

The third-place finish was Kaeding's fifth straight in the top 10. The team is eight races into its 2008 schedule that will include more than 100 races with various series.

"TK" qualified fourth-quick, only .298 seconds off fast-qualifier Jonathan Allard's pace, then finished 10th in the Fourth Heat Race. The two-time Silver Dollar Speedway track champion came back strong to run second in the "B" Feature, however, and started outside the fifth row in the 40-lap main event.

Tom Rolfe Racing will be back in action Friday in the Golden State Challenge King of California race at Ocean Speedway in Watsonville, CA.
