TULSA, Okla. (April 6, 2006) -- There is a virtual slew of Regional action on tap for the American Sprint Car Series this weekend, with the season openers for the Gulf South, Sooner, Midwest and Northern Plains Regions all playing out over the weekend in Nebraska and Texas.

The Series:
ASCS Gulf South Region

What, When & Where:
Saturday night at 7:15 p.m. -- Houston Raceway Park in Baytown, TX.

Track Information:
Houston Raceway Park (Baytown, TX) is located east of Houston on I-10 to Exit 798, then three miles south on SR 146, then 0.8 mile southeast on FM 1405, then 1.5 miles northeast on FM 565. Track phone: 281-383-7223.

Notable:
A $2,500 winner's share along with $400 start money is up for grabs as the ASCS Gulf South Region kicks off its fifth year of racing action. National Tour shoes Travis Rilat and Jason Johnson are expected to drop in on the Regional regulars.

Friday night at 6:30 p.m. -- Nebraska Raceway Park's I-80 Speedway in Greenwood, NE.

Saturday night at 6:30 p.m. -- Nebraska Raceway Park's I-80 Speedway in Greenwood, NE.

Track Information:
I-80 Speedway (Greenwood, NE) -- 4/10-mile semi-banked dirt oval located between Lincoln and Omaha off I-80 Exit 420. Track phone:J402-944-2233 or 402-342-3453.

Notable:
It's the inaugural event for the ASCS Northern Plains Region as it squares off with the ASCS Midwest Region for I-80 Speedway's Spring Sizzler. Last year's ASCS Midwest Region debut drew a record Regional car count of 46 entries. With the NCRA joining the fray on Saturday night, a new record is very likely.

Saturday night at 7:00 p.m. -- Cowtown Speedway in Kennedale, TX.

Cowtown Speedway (Kennedale, TX) -- 0x00bc-mile, high-banked dirt oval is located just east of Fort Worth off I-20 Exit 442-A, then 1.7 miles southeast on Mansfield Highway, then 1.4 miles southwest on New Hope Road, then east. Track phone: 817-478-9952 or 817-572-0848.

Notable:
There have been six different winners in as many Sooner Region events held atop the "fastest lil' dirt track in Texas." Defending Sooner Region champ, Sean McClelland, will kick off a possible title defense while also pursuing Rookie of the Year honors with the National Tour. Currently, there are no conflicting dates between the National Tour and Sooner Region. Fort Worth's Kevin Ramey, the 2003 Sooner Region champion and 2004 Sooner Region co-champion, is set to make a run for another Sooner crown.

In its 15th year of sanctioning Sprint Car racing in the United States, the American Sprint Car Series will present approximately 180 nights of racing in 2006 including the National Tour and its Regional Tours (Gulf South, Mid-South, Midwest, Northern Plains, Patriot Sprint Group, Rocky Mountain, Sooner, Southern and Sprints on Dirt).
