On January 5, 2002 the Tampa Bay Area Racing Association held their Awards Banquet for the 2001 season. The sold out crowd honored the Driver Point Champion Wayne Reutimann and Car Owner Champion Heckman Motorsports # 22.

M/C, Jack Miller introduced the special guests Doug Auld of Sprint Car and Midget Magazine, the family of the late Dick Friedley, Sam Morrow, Dick Wooldridge, and Guest Speaker Dave Argabright of National Speed Sport News and Open Wheel Magazine.

The top 15 drivers and car Owners were presented trophies, point money and Contingency awards in excess of $ 50,000 dollars. The 2001 Rookie of The Year was Matt Mercer. The Barfield "Clean Sweep" Award went to The Point Champion Wayne Reutimann. The Eagle Jet/ GMS "Hard Charger" Award was presented to Keith Butler who also finished second in the Driver and Owner points. Matt Mercer won the Hard Luck Award and the Sportsman Of the Year Award. The Most Improved Driver Award went to Gary Gimmler, who also won his first TBARA feature in the year 2001. Leroy Teate who finished third in the Owner point also won The Bob Luscomb " Golden Wrench" Award. The Dick Friedley "Most Dedicated" Award winner was Skeeter Faulconer.

Twenty-one races at nine tracks in FL. are Scheduled for the TBARA Winged Sprint Series in 2002 .
