Sammy & Kevin Swindell Ready for Devil's Bowl Doubleheader

TULSA, Okla. (October 6, 2004) - While three champions will be crowned on October 16, a pair of Swindell's will add some spice to next Saturday night's O'Reilly Sprint Bandits and ASCS Gulf South vs. Sooner Region Shootout sprint car double at Devil's Bowl Speedway in Mesquite, TX.

Sammy will take on the O'Reilly Sprint Bandits in the series' season finale, while young son Kevin will make his American Sprint Car Series debut in the Second Annual ASCS Gulf South vs. Sooner Region Shootout.

Sammy kicked off the O'Reilly Sprint Bandits inaugural season by sweeping the series' two-day opener at Devil's Bowl Speedway this March. Sammy overtook early pacesetter Jerrod Hull on the ninth round en route to winning the 25-lap March 19 prelim, then held off the fast-closing duo of Shane Stewart and Zach Chappell to post a narrow victory the next night before flipping on the cool-down lap after contact with Chappell.

With the season-opening sweep, Sammy is tied with Travis Rilat atop the Sprint Bandits victory list, with each driver collecting two wins. Other Sprint Bandits feature winners include Shane Stewart, Terry McCarl, Gary Wright and Wayne Johnson.

While the veteran Sprint Car champion takes on the 410-ci ranks, Kevin will make his American Sprint Car Series 360-ci debut. A graduate of the micro ranks, Kevin has made a pair of competitive test runs at Farmington and a test session at the fabled Riverside Speedway in West Memphis.

Kevin Swindell will face a tough field of competitors as well, as Andy Shouse and Kevin Ramey lead the Sooner Region forces into the event, with Jerry Bell, Chris Sweeney and Greg Rilat leading the Gulf South troops into the season finale.

The Championship Saturday night Sprint Car double at Devil's Bowl Speedway in Mesquite, TX, is set to go green at 8:00 p.m.

Devil's Bowl Speedway is located six miles east of Dallas' I-635 on US 80, then three miles south on Lawson Road. For more information, contact the track at 972-222-2421.
