Rain puts damper on racing at St. Francois County Raceway
FARMINGTON, Mo. -- (Sept. 8, 2001) Racing action at the St. Francois County Raceway was cut short Saturday night due to rain. Following a pair of short rain-delays, Mother Nature finally wiped out most of the Sprint Car feature and the Modified class feature races. Only the Hobby Stock feature was ran before the skies opened up.
In the Hobby Stock class, Chuck Adams picked up another feature win, his second in as many weeks. Jeremy Greenwalt of Potosi finished in second place with Randy Forster third, Brad Mashek fourth and Kenny Harris fifth. They were followed by Chris Boyd, Billy Ames, Kasey Nations, Mark Howell and Doug Savage. The win by Adams secured a triple crown night (winning his heat race, the trophy dash and the feature).
Adams won the trophy dash with Mashek second and Billy Mayberry third. Harris won the first heat with Mayberry second and Mickey Mosier third. Forster won the second heat with Greewalt second and Boyd third. Adams won the third heat with Mashek second and Howell third. All of Sprint Car and Modified heat races and trophy dashes were concluded, but official results of those races won't be released until the conclusion of the features this Saturday night.
Saturday night at SFCR will be action packed. Not only will the Sprint Car feature be concluded from the last completed lap of the 25-lap event and the Modified class feature be made up, the 600cc Multis will be making their final visit of the year to SFCR and there is extra prize money being added to their purse. It will also be a special night for the fans watching in the main grandstand area as it will be $5 admission night for adults, children under 12 are free.
One other important event will occur Saturday night when another member of the SFCR "Wall of Fame" will be inducted.
