Joey Montgomery wins first feature of season at SFCR.
FARMINGTON, Mo. -- (May 11, 2002) Joey Montgomery picked up his first win of the season at the St. Francois County Raceway Saturday night as he held off his older brother, Tim Montgomery, for the victory. Tommy Worley Jr. captured third place with fourth going to Bob Thoman and fifth to Casey Barnhouse. They were followed by Steve Short, Bryan Matthews, Jason Keith, Jason Hunt and Jeremy Standridge.
Tim Montgomery was the winner of the first heat with Worley Jr. second and Timmy Moss third. Joey Montgomery won the second heat with Short second and Thoman third. Barnhouse won the third heat with Hunt second and Standridge third. Worley Jr. was the winning of the trophy dash with Barnhouse second and Tim Montgomery third. The night also marked the return of Jeff Montgomery to the driving ranks.
"That's the first time in a long, long time they've raced together," said the mother of the three, Vickie Montgomery.
In the Modified class, Jeff Lebaube picked up the checkered flag in the feature after he outdueled Brent Thompson for the win. Third place went to Mike Crader, fourth to Eric Mabery and fifth place to Billy Smith. They were followed by Pete Koenig, Chris Boyd, Matt Zimmerly, Keith Ruff and Tommy Worley Sr.
Thompson won the first heat with Crader second and Terry Baker third. Lebaube won the second heat with Smith second and Danny Resinger third. Mabery won the third heat with Boyd second and Koenig third. Kenny Kennedy was the winner of the "B" main with Timmy Hill second. Karl Francis powered his way past the competition to pick up the win in the Hobby Stock feature. Jeremy Greenwalt brought home second place with Chuck Adams third, Randy Forster fourth and Billy Ames fifth. They were followed by Kenny Harris, Billy Mayberry, Kasey Nations and Mark Howell. Forster was the winner of the first heat with Harris second and Ames third. Greenwalt won the second heat with Francis second and Mayberry third.
In the 600cc Multi feature, Dustin Barks of Farmington picked up the feature win with Curt Henderson second, Shawn Merritt third, Lance McKinney fourth and Eric Giessing. They were followed by Matt Dodson, Josh Kennedy, Tyler Thompson, Josh Statler and Kent Buckley.
Barks won the first heat race with Merritt second and Buckley third. Giessing won the second heat with Henderson second and Tommy Boyd third. Racing action resumes at the St. Francois County Raceway this Saturday night with all four classes participating. Gates will open at 4 p.m. with racing at 7:30.
