MAHLE/Clevite to Support ASCS SOD Short Track Challenge in '09

TULSA, Okla. (January 20, 2009) - Engine Pro ASCS Sprints on Dirt presented by ARP is proud to announce that MAHLE/Clevite returns to support the MAHLE/Clevite Short Track Challenge during the 2009 season.

This will be the second year for the popular mini-series that keeps separate points for select events during the ASCS SOD tour on tracks 3/8-mile or shorter.

MAHLE/Clevite manufacturers engine bearings, gaskets, piston rings, internal engine parts, valve train components and engine kits. A long time sponsor of the ASCS SOD tour, MAHLE/Clevite decided to step up to supporting the short track challenge program in 2008.

The mini-series was very popular amongst the teams and offers some bonus money for those running the entire tour and for those who are not a chance to race for a of point championship.

Last season the Short Track Challenge came down to the finale event at Crystal Motor Speedway with Ben Rutan and Gregg Dalman tied in points after the final feature event. The complete schedule for the MAHLE/Clevite Short Track Challenge will be released with the entire 2009 Engine Pro ASCS Sprints on Dirt presented by ARP calendar in the coming weeks.

The American Sprint Car Series, in its 18th year of sanctioning Sprint Car racing events, brings the best of Sprint Car racing to approximately 100 different tracks throughout 30 states and Canada. Anchored by the Lucas Oil ASCS Sprint Car Dirt Series presented by K&N Filters, ASCS also consists of a dozen different Regions throughout the nation.
