Dalman Does it in ASCS Sprints on Dirt Action at South Buxton

MERLIN, Ontario, Canada (May 27, 2006) -- The Engine Pro ASCS Sprints on Dirt presented by Victor Reinz ventured onto Canadian soil for the first time in 2006 and it was Gregg Dalman posting his third career series victory in Saturday night's feature at South Buxton Raceway.

While Dalman started the feature from the front row outside, it was polesitter Kevin Atkins jumping into the early lead. Atkins set the pace until action was interrupted after eight circuits for John Riegling's turn two spin that collected Mike Galajda.

Atkins led the way on the restart in front of Dalman, Mike Brecht, Dain Naida and Kyle Patrick. Atkins' luck soured on the 13th lap however, when he was unable to avoid a spinning Jim Goetgeluck in turn three. Atkins was forced pitside with front-end damage.

Dalman assumed the point and, after weathering a caution after 21 laps for a Kevin Job spin, raced to the checkered flag with a five car-length advantage aboard the Felice-powered BDI No. 49T Maxim for his first ASCS Sprints on Dirt win since July of 2003.

Brecht crossed the stripe second to retain the series point lead, with Naida, defending series champion Tim Norman and Patrick rounding out the top five. Gary Fast was sixth, with Ken Mackey, Davey Brown, John Riegling and Louie Carufel completing the top ten.

Atkins, Brecht and Patrick each scored heat race wins.
