TULSA, Okla. (June 27, 2006) -- An enticing $3,000 winner's share is on the line for this Friday's Engine Pro ASCS Sprints on Dirt presented by Victor Reinz event in the Seventh Annual King of Michigan Summer Nationals at Hartford Speedway Park in Hartford, MI.

And even more could possibly be on the line, as during each of the past two seasons the King of Michigan feature winner has gone on to capture the ASCS Sprints on Dirt season championship. Tim Norman won the event last year en route to the title, while Dustin Daggett's third King of Michigan triumph in 2004 paved the way to his second SOD crown.

Thus far in 2006, seven different drivers have graced ASCS SOD victory lane through the opening eight events of the year. Manitou Beach's Ken Mackey became the series first repeat winner of the season by topping Friday night's Butler action and holds a slim 30-point lead entering this weekend's event.

Former series champion Dain Naida of Belleville, MI, enters Friday's card second in points, just a dozen points ahead of Gregg Dalman (Lyons, MI) and Kyle Patrick (Tilbury, ONT), who are tied for third. Kalkaska, MI, racer Gary Fast has climbed back up to fifth in points after a recent DNS set him back.

The balance of the current top ten in ASCS Sprints on Dirt points includes Kevin Atkins (Warsaw, IN), Joe Bares (Traverse City, MI), Davey Brown (Eaton Rapids, MI), Mike Galajda (Flusing, MI) and Louie Carufel (Port Huron, MI).

Friday's King of Michigan Summer Nationals at Hartford Speedway Park gets under way at 8:00 p.m.

The high-banked, 0x00bd-mile Hartford Speedway Park clay oval is located in Hartford, MI, off I-96 Exit 46, then 1.3 miles north on Center Street past the traffic light, then four blocks west on Prospect Street, then north. For more information, contact the track at 269-621-4482.

The 2006 Engine Pro ASCS Sprints on Dirt presented by Victor Reinz slate consists of approximately 30 nights of racing at fourteen different tracks throughout Michigan, Ohio and Canada.

In its 15th year of sanctioning Sprint Car racing in the United States, the American Sprint Car Series will present approximately 180 nights of racing at nearly 100 tracks throughout 27 different states and Canada in 2006 including the National Tour and its Regional Tours (Gulf South, Mid-South, Midwest, Northern Plains, Patriot Sprint Group, Rocky Mountain, Sooner, Southern and Sprints on Dirt).
