Norman Nabs Win in 100th ASCS Sprints on Dirt Feature at Crystal!

CRYSTAL, Mich. (May 31, 2008) -- The Engine Pro ASCS Sprints on Dirt presented by Victor Reinz celebrated Crystal Motor Speedway's 100th point paying program for the series with a thrilling feature event with three time and defending series champion Tim Norman picking up the victory.

Norman, driving the Joe Gaerte owned GLR Investments, Gaerte Engines sponsored Maxim chassis, started seventh and ran down John Gall and drove masterfully through lapped traffic to separate himself from the rest of the field and score the victory.

"Its sweet to win the 100th feature at Crystal," Norman said in victory lane about the feature win at a facility he often refers to as his favorite on the tour. "This was the first night on a new engine tonight and everything worked out great."

Gall and Ryan Ruhl started on the front row for the 25-lap feature event. Gall drove into the lead while Ruhl ended up driving off the top of the race track on the first lap. Ruhl came back onto the track without causing a caution flag.

Gall continued to lead while Norman worked his way through the field. Eventually Gall, second place Ben Rutan, and Norman broke away from the pack and approached lapped traffic. Norman patently waited for Gall to open up room on the bottom lane in turns one and two and took the lead with just a handful of laps to go. Norman then drove away from the pack in heavy lapped traffic.

While Gall dropped back, J.R. Stewart made charge over the last two laps to take the runner up position. Mann, Gall, and Rutan rounded out the top five. Dustin Daggett earned JE/SRP Pistons hard charger honors after starting 15th and finishing sixth.

Next week the Engine Pro ASCS Sprints on Dirt presented by Victor Reinz tackles a two day weekend with Friday night's event taking place at the Cherry Speedway in Fife Lake, Michigan. Saturday the tour heads down M66 to the I-96 Speedway in Lake Odessa, Michigan for the first leg of the Engler Machine and Tool Half Mile Master mini-series.
