INDIANAPOLIS, IND. (December 6, 2002) - Steve Kinser, owner of his own #11 World of Outlaws (WoO) championship-winning 410-cubic-inch sprint car team, claimed "Team of the Year" honors from the voting panel of the National 410 Sprint Car Poll. Joining Kinser in receiving the honors were Scott Gerkin, Mike Long, and Nick Boes. Steve Kinser also received the "Driver of the Year" honors at the 2002 National Sprint Car Poll awards reception at the Westin in Indianapolis on Thursday evening, as part of the Performance Racing Industry (PRI) Trade Show.
The 410 "Rookie of the Year" honors went to Brandon Wimmer of Indiana. Wimmer received his award from event co-emcees Dave Argabright and Pat Sullivan.
Doug Auld of Sprint Car & Midget Magazine was the "Media Member of the Year". Unable to attend the reception, Auld was represented by Bill Woodside.
Steve Sinclair of the Interstate Racing Association (IRA) received "Promoter of the Year" title. Sinclair leads the Illinois/Wisconsin 410-c.i. sprint car touring group.
Bob Newton of Hoosier Tires was honored as the recipient of the "Builder/Manufacturer of the Year" award by the National 410 Sprint Car Poll voting panel of media members, sanctioning officials, track promoters and sprint car manufacturers.
Kasey Kahne received the 410 "Wild Card Award", which he earned over the course of the season by his exciting sprint car performances in front of the poll's voters. Kahne was unable to attend the poll reception.
