TULSA, Okla. (July 29, 2004) - While Shane Stewart and Wayne Johnson kept Gary Wright out of O'Reilly Sprint Bandits victory lane, "The Texan" still kicked off the month of July by moving back atop the Sprint Bandits COMP Cams Challenge point charts.

Wright gained a total of 17 positions in heat and qualifying race action at Oklahoma City's State Fair Speedway on July 4 and Tulsa Speedway on July 5 to regain the COMP Cams Challenge point lead from series point leader Stewart.

Each position gained in every heat race and qualifying race in O'Reilly Sprint Bandits action over the course of the season will lead one step closer to the COMP Cams Challenge Award, worth $1,000 at the season-ending awards banquet. Five points are awarded for each position gained in heats and qualifiers.

With the 17 positions gained worth 85 points, Wright extended his COMP Cams Challenge season point total to 190 points. Closing on the inaugural series championship with a feature victory in the July 5 Tulsa Speedway outing, Stewart sits second in COMP Cams Challenge points, just 25 markers back with 165.

Zach Chappell of Talala, OK, overtook Forney, TX, shoe Travis Rilat for third in the COMP Cams Challenge, racing past ten competitors in Oklahoma City and Tulsa to claim a five point advantage over Rilat. Louisiana native Jason Johnson turned in the second best passing performance of the OKC-Tulsa double, gaining 13 positions and jumping to fifth in the COMP Cams Challenge.
