O'REILLY SPRINT BANDITS SET 2008 TNT SCHEDULE
TULSA, Okla. (December 27, 2007) - The O'Reilly Sprint Bandits will once again rumble across the plains in topless fashion, as the 2008 Tour 'N Topless Midwest Swing has been set.
The nation's top wingless Sprint Car drivers will converge for seven nights of O'Reilly Sprint Bandits TNT action at a half dozen different tracks throughout Iowa, Missouri, Nebraska, Oklahoma and Kansas in August as the series celebrates its Fourth Annual Midwest Swing.
Once again, the swing will kick off with Oskaloosa, Iowa's $30,000-to-win Non-Wing Ultimate Challenge on Tuesday night, August 5. Levi Jones and Jerry Coons, Jr., topped TNT versions of the Ultimate Challenge in 2005 and 2006, respectively, before this year's edition was washed out by torrential downpours.
Action resumes on the following Monday night, August 11, with the TNT troops taking to Wheatland, Missouri's Lucas Oil Speedway. It marks a return to "The Diamond of Dirt Tracks", where Dickie Gaines won in 2006.
The next night, August 12, it's on to Nebraska Raceway Park's I-80 Speedway in Greenwood, NE, for the fourth consecutive year. Dave Darland nipped Tim Kaeding at the line at I-80 Speedway this year, with other past TNT Nebraska winners including Robert Ballou (2006) and Levi Jones (2005).
Wednesday night, August 13, the Sprint Bandits TNT travelers swarm to the south for a stop at Oklahoma City's State Fair Speedway. It marks the series first Oklahoma City stop since the inaugural Midwest swing in 2005, when Levi Jones snared victory honors.
Then it's up the Turner Turnpike on Thursday night, August 14, for another stop atop Creek Cont Speedway's 1/4-mile clay oval in Sapulpa, OK, where Robert Ballou posted one of his 2007 wins.
The wild week of wingless Sprint Car action concludes with the traditional two-night event at Lakeside Speedway in Kansas City, KS, with the Saturday night, August 16, Ron Shuman Classic offering up a $10,000 winner's share. Robert Ballou swept both nights of Lakeside competition in 2007, with other TNT winners at Lakeside including Brad Sweet (2006) and Bud Kaeding (2005).
Illinois' Levi Jones reigned as the inaugural O'Reilly Sprint Bandits TNT Midwest swing champion in 2005, with Missouri's Jesse Hockett taking top honors in 2006. The 2007 edition of the Sprint Bandits TNT Midwest Swing culminated in a tie atop the point charts between California shoes Robert Ballou and Tim Kaeding.
