Thunder Valley Speedway Backs out of ASCS Southern Tour Date

TULSA, Okla. (August 24, 2005) -- Unable to fulfill contractual obligations, track management at Thunder Valley Speedway in Lawndale, NC, has made a late cancellation of this Friday night's American Sprint Car Series Southern Tour event. The event will not be rescheduled.

The August 26 date was announced on March 22 and following the series initial visit on April 29, all parties were enthusiastic about the return engagement in August. Since that time however, track promoter Debra Mason has chosen not to honor the contract agreed upon by Thunder Valley Speedway and the American Sprint Car Series.

The Heintz Performance American Sprint Car Series Southern Tour will fire back into action on Saturday night, September 24, at New 311 Speedway in Madison, NC.

Overall, the American Sprint Car Series will sanction approximately 100 nights of racing in 2005 at approximately 50 different tracks throughout 18 different states.
