ASCS Southern Tour Debuts at Oak Level Raceway on Friday
TULSA, Okla. (August 15, 2006) -- The Heintz Performance American Sprint Car Series Southern Tour fires back into action this Friday night as the series debuts atop the semi-banked, 3/8-mile Oak Level Raceway red clay tri-oval in Martinsville, VA.
With a handful of events remaining, Coby Adams of Mooresville, NC, leads a tight championship points race with a mere 20-point edge over Cherryvale, NC, racer Johnny Bridges. Lance Moss, also of Cherryvale, is just one more point back in third.
Mooresville's Jeff Young is fourth, with Butch Pendergrass of Pfafftown, NC, rouding out the current top five. The balance of the current top ten includes Brian Smith, Jimmy Burns, Kris Brooks, Doug Gold and Eddie Hamilton.
Friday's action at Oak Level Raceway is slated to get under way at 8:00 p.m.
Oak Level Raceway is located 11.6 miles north of US 58 on SR 220, then 0.1 miles east on Rockwood Park Road (take left fork), then continue for 2.1 miles, then 0.1 miles south on Race Track Road. For more information, contact the track at 336-349-8280 or 336-442-4821.
The Heintz Performance ASCS Southern Tour 2006 slate consists of 16 nights of racing at thirteen different tracks throughout the southeastern portion of the United States.
In its 15th year of sanctioning Sprint Car racing in the United States, the American Sprint Car Series will present approximately 180 nights of racing at nearly 100 tracks throughout 27 different states and Canada in 2006 including the National Tour and its Regional Tours (Gulf South, Mid-South, Midwest, Northern Plains, Patriot Sprint Group, Rocky Mountain, Sooner, Southern and Sprints on Dirt).
