TULSA, Okla. (March 23, 2004) -- The 2004 season opener for the American Bank of Oklahoma ASCS Sooner Region is rapidly approaching, as the competitive series fires off Saturday night, April 3, by making its first ever stop at Caney Valley Speedway in Caney, KS.

The past two ASCS Sooner Region champions, Kevin Ramey and Danny Jennings, will highlight a sturdy field of approximately 30 competitors that are expected to be in competition.

After posting five Sooner Region triumphs en route to the 2003 title, Ft. Worth's Ramey joins forces with car owner Tom Willis in an effort to repeat as series champion in 2004. Ramey, who topped both the season opener and the season finale in 2003, will try to kick off the 2004 ASCS Sooner Region campaign in style at Caney Valley Speedway.

Hailing from Norman, OK, Jennings seeks to regain the title he earned in 2002 by virtue of three consecutive victories to complete the season. After a rough start in 2003, Jennings reeled off top-ten finishes in the series' final eleven events en route to a second place finish in points behind Ramey.

Derek Drown, Brian Harvill and Foster Landon will be among the top guns that Ramey and Jennings will contend with for title honors over the course of the 2004 ASCS Sooner Region circuit.

The American Bank of Oklahoma ASCS Sooner Region will present 18 races at eleven different tracks throughout Oklahoma, Kansas, Texas and Missouri in 2004. A total of 109 drivers competed in at least one ASCS Sooner Region event in 2003.

Caney Valley Speedway is located one mile west of the US Highway 75 & 166 East four-way stop junction, just north of the city of Caney, KS. For additional information, contact the track at 918-766-0050 or 316-519-0475.
