New Venues Spice up 2004 ASCS Sooner Region Slate
TULSA, Okla. (January 13, 2004) - The American Sprint Car Series released its 2004 Sooner Region schedule today, with seven new tracks on the schedule providing a fresh look for the competitive series in 2004.
The current 2004 ASCS Sooner Region schedule consists of 19 dates at 12 different tracks throughout Oklahoma, Kansas, Missouri and Texas.
Among the new venues will be Caney Speedway, just across the Oklahoma state line north of Tulsa, in Kansas. Caney Speedway will host both the season opener on April 3 and the season finale on October 2.
Other new venues for the ASCS Sooner Region in 2004 include Tulsa Speedway, which will host a pair of events on April 17 and August 28, 81 Speedway in Wichita, which will host the series on May 7, Enid Speedway, hosting its first ever ASCS Sooner Region event the next night, May 8, Cowtown Speedway in Kennedale, TX, welcoming the ASCS back on May 29, Clinton Motorsports Park, with a July 2 event marking its first ASCS event since the early years of the series and a yet to be determined date at Tri-State Speedway in Pocola, OK (near Ft. Smith, AR).
Returning to the ASCS Sooner Region slate are Lawton Speedway (May 1, July 3 and September 11), Oklahoma City's State Fair Speedway (April 30, June 25 and July 30), Ada's Oklahoma Sports Park (April 24 and September 4), Devil's Bowl Speedway in Mesquite, TX (June 19), Joplin 66 Speedway (July 31) and Creek County Speedway (September 10).
The May 7 event at 81 Speedway will feature the ASCS Sooner Region vs. the NCRA 360 Sprints, while the June 19 event at Devil's Bowl Speedway will mark the Second Annual ASCS Sooner Region vs. ASCS Gulf South Region Showdown.
Three events will be held in conjunction with the O'Reilly American Sprint Car Series National Tour presented by Love's Travel Stops & Country Stores and United Trailers, including the State Fair Speedway events on June 25 and July 30 and the Joplin 66 Speedway event on July 31.
