ASCS Sooner Finale at Mid America up to $3,000 to Win!
TULSA, Okla. (October 13, 2005) -- After a bustling day of activity, the winner's stakes for this Saturday night's American Bank of Oklahoma ASCS Sooner Region Series Championship event at Mid America Speedway in South Coffeyville, OK, have climbed to $3,000.
And Saturday's winner isn't the only one that will benefit, as purse money has been bumped through much of the top ten, with all feature starters assured of at least $250.
Earlier in the day on Thursday, it was announced that series sponsor American Bank of Oklahoma had added an extra $1,000 to the purse, with half going to the winner, $300 to second and $200 to third, which brought the winner's share to $2000.
Determined to provide a stellar Sprint Car event atop the semi-banked, 3/10-mile clay oval, track management at Mid America Speedway then opted to up the stakes even more.
Mid America Speedway has increased the winner's purse to $3,000, with $1,500 for second and $1,000 for third. Fourth receives $800, with fifth getting $650. Sixth through ninth will earn $500, $400, $300 and $275 respectively, with tenth on down all getting $250.
In addition to the extra purse money, a new tradition will kick off Saturday night with 500 show-up points awarded to each competitor for the ASCS Sooner Region Season Championship event. Five hundred show-up points will be awarded at each year's Sooner Region season finale going forward.
As per standard ASCS events, there is no entry fee for this event. The standard $10 draw fee is all that will apply.
Collinsville's Sean McClelland holds a 50 point lead over Norman's Danny Jennings entering the series' twentieth and final event of the season, which is expected to attract a stout field of entries.
Saturday night's ASCS Sooner Region season finale at Mid America Speedway is set to go green at 7:00 p.m.
