OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. (January 27, 2003) - Shane Stewart of Tulsa, OK, is set to kick off his first full season aboard the Scott Chilcutt-owned #4m Sprint Car team in this week's "King of the 360's" Winter Nationals at East Bay Raceway Park in Tampa, FL. With more than 70 drivers from throughout the nation pre-entered for the four-day event, which fires off Wednesday night, Shane is considered to be one of the top contenders to take Saturday night's $10,000 winner's share.
This week's racing action begins a full slate of more than 100 scheduled events in 2003 for Shane and the Chilcutt-owned team. After East Bay Raceway Park's "King of the 360's", crew team Rob Hart and Cathy Barrows will switch powerplants in preparation for the ensuing All Star events at Volusia Speedway Park (February 6-9) in Barberville, FL, and East Bay Raceway Park(February 12-15).
When the checkered flag flies on Florida's early season action on February 15, Shane and the team will make the cross-country jaunt to compete in the World of Outlaws season opener at Kings Speedway in Hanford, CA, on February 21. From there, the team will stay on the Outlaw trail in the early going through California, Nevada and New Mexico, as the series makes its way back toward the team's Oklahoma City base.
Shane and the #4m team will compete with a variety of different series throughout the country this season, including approximately half of the races on the WoO schedule. In addition to the WoO events, the Wesmar 410's will also be in place in the Eagle and MCI chassis for All-Star and NCRA competition, while the Snyder 360's will be in place for 25-30 ASCS events, including Knoxville's 360 Nationals and the competitive ASCS Speedweek.
Along with returning sponsors, mIn Motorsports Management, Pro Lube Center and Hoosier Tire, Shane's #4m team is also joined by new sponsors Brodix, Cox Communications, Sander Engineering, Penske Shocks, B&B Oval Products, HRP Wings and Banshee Graphics.
After finishing second in 2002 WoO Gumout points, Shane joined forces with Chilcutt's team late in 2002. The new combination came out of the gates quickly, posting a handful of top ten finishes in WoO competition, along with a fourth place showing in Little Rock's Short Track Nationals, to successfully wrap up the season.
