3/27/02, Selinsgrove, PA -- After a very successful practice day on March 23 that saw over 40 cars sign in for action, Selinsgrove Speedway is ready to burst full throttle into the 2002 racing season.

The track will mark the start of its 57th season this Saturday, March 30 when it presents its first racing program of year. Beginning at 6 p.m., a regular four-division program of Cindy Rowe Auto Glass sprint cars, late models, pro stocks and roadrunners is on the schedule.

The next three consecutive weekends will boast identical programs at the speedway as it shifts into high gear approaching the end of the month. Regular starting time will move to 7 p.m. beginning April 20.

The end of April will mark one of the biggest weekends in motorsports history at the Snyder County oval.

The speedway will host Pack The Track II on April 27. Sponsored by Cindy Rowe Auto Glass and the Selinsgrove Hotel, the night features free general admission to all fans and was a huge success last season.

Just 24 hours later, the speedway will swing back into action with the first of four-scheduled race dates in the Middleswarth Potato Chips Susquehanna Valley 410 Sprint Series. On tap April 28 will be the 30-lap Inaugural Jan Opperman Memorial.

Along with the touring Super Sportsman of Silver Spring Speedway, the 410 sprints will compete for the chance to win over $10,000. The highly anticipated event will feature "The $10,000 Chip Challenge," as posted by Middleswarth Potato Chips and Mr. Phil Lash.

In order to drive off with the money, one of the scheduled front row starters must opt to start at the rear and proceed to win the race. The Opperman Memorial carries a June 2 raindate.

Gates for this Saturday's show will open at 4 p.m. Adult general admission will be just $8.00.
