SELINSGROVE, Pa. - The traveling Advance Auto Parts United Racing Club sprint cars will join the Cindy Rowe Paintless Dent Repair sprint cars for an open wheel doubleheader this Saturday at Selinsgrove Speedway.
Joining the sprint car divisions will be the Salem RV Center/Keller's Auto Body pro stocks and roadrunners at 7 p.m. Track gates open at 5 p.m.
The return of the URC sprint cars to Selinsgrove this weekend will mark a first at the track since the 2000 season, when Curt Michael of Ocean View, Del., bested a field of 38 entries.
Defending URC champion Bill Brian, Jr., is expected to be in the field on Saturday. To date, five URC events have produced five different winners this season.
Kevin Welsh of Far Hills, NJ, won the most recent event at New Egypt Speedway on May 10, and leads the point standings entering this Saturday's event at Selinsgrove.
Other winners this season include Dan Kaszubinski of Syracuse, NY, at Grandview Speedway on May 4; Randy West of Allentown at the Orange County (NY) Fair Speedway on May 3; Dave Ely of West Lawn at Bridgeport (NJ) Speedway on April 19; and Trevor Lewis of Upper Black Eddy at Bridgeport on April 12.
In 358 sprint car action at Selinsgrove Speedway this season, five different drivers have visited victory lane. Kyle Purks of Langhorne, the most recent winner on May 10, has moved into the top 10 in the divisional point standings.
Chad Layton of Harrisburg, a two-time winner this season, leads the Cindy Rowe Paintless Dent Repair point standings entering this Saturday's event with 1720 over Nate Snyder of Halifax with 1630.
Blane Heimbach of Selinsgrove and Darren Eash of Ijamsville, MD, are feature winners this season and are currently ranked third and fourth with 1600 and 1570 points, respectively.
Craig Eshenaur of Linglestown is the only other feature winner to date and is eighth in the point standings with 1360.
