Four-race holiday weekend set for Selinsgrove Speedway & Raceway Park.

SELINSGROVE, Pa. - Selinsgrove Speedway & Raceway Park will present four consecutive nights of auto racing this Labor Day holiday weekend beginning Friday, August 30 and running through Monday, September 2.

Selinsgrove Speedway's half-mile oval will showcase seven different racing divisions in two nights.

The Saturday, August 31 program will feature the Cindy Rowe Auto Glass 358 sprint cars plus late models, pro stocks, roadrunners and the second appearance of the season by the Penn Mar vintage race cars. Selinsgrove Speedway will also welcome members of the Checkered Flag Fan Club.

Saturday's racing card will be sponsored by the Golden Corral Family Steak House, located on Routes 11 & 15 in Hummels Wharf, and will be the final points race of the 2002 season at the track.

Entering Saturday's events, Chad Layton of Harrisburg has already clinched the 2002 sprint car title for the second consecutive season, while Billy McNeal of Williamstown has locked up the roadrunner championship. The late model and pro stock titles have yet to be decided.

Selinsgrove Speedway will present the third of four events in the Middleswarth Potato Chips Susquehanna Valley 410 Sprint Car Series on Monday, September 2 at 7 p.m.

The 410 sprint cars will compete in a 25-lap main event paying $3,000 to win and $250 to start. Sprint car drivers will draw for starting spots for qualifying and redraw for the main event.

The first two 410 sprint car events at the track this season were won by Todd Hestor of Middleburg (Opperman Memorial June 2) and Greg Hodnett of Memphis, Tenn. (PA Speedweek Finale July 7).

Joining the 410 sprint cars for the Labor Day holiday special will be the super sportsman from Silver Spring Speedway for the second time this season. Steve Wilbur of Mechanicsburg was the winner of the 20-lap sportsman feature on June 2.

The fourth and final event in the Middleswarth Potato Chips 410 Sprint Car Series will be the 20th Anniversary Alexander Family Dealerships Sprint Car Open on Saturday, September 14.

Selinsgrove Raceway Park, the one-fifth mile oval located inside of Selinsgrove Speedway, will present complete programs of go kart and micro sprint car racing on Friday, August 30 and Sunday, September 1.

Friday's program begins at 7 p.m., with track gates opening at 5:30 p.m. Sunday's event starts at 6 p.m., with track gates opening at 4 p.m.
