It's a Randi ASCS Rocky Mountain Region Nightcap at Jetmore

JETMORE, Kan. (September 4, 2004) 0x2022 Defending American Sprint Car Series Rocky Mountain Region champion Randi Miller took advantage of a well-timed yellow flag to notch his fifth series victory of the season in Saturday night's 30-lap feature at the Jetmore Motorplex, the nightcap to a day-night Western Kansas doubleheader.

After racing from fifth to win the evening's opening heat race, Miller led the feature field to the green flag with Derek Drown alongside. Miller jumped into the early lead, with third-starter C.J. Johnson quickly moving in to challenge.

As lapped traffic became a factor, Johnson took advantage to race past Miller for the point on the tenth round, only to have the move negated when the yellow flag flew.

Given a reprieve, Miller held fast the rest of the way to secure the victory aboard Mac White's Carbone-powered Two Dot Tech No. 2d Maxim. Johnson crossed the stripe in second, while Jason Martin charged from 12th to snare the show position.

Mike Peters took the checkered flag in fourth, with afternoon winner Steven King racing from 13th to round out the top five. Nick Haygood was sixth, while Eric Miller chipped away at Keith Rauch's point lead by finishing seventh. Drown notched eighth, with Max Carlisle and 19th-starter Jace Pennetta completing the top ten.

Rauch finished eleventh to maintain a slim eight-point lead over Eric Miller in the series' championship points chase.

Randi Miller, Johnson, Drown and Jake Pierson topped heat race action, with Scott Box winning the B Feature.
