Park Plunders ASCS Rocky Mountain Region at Thomas County
COLBY, Kan. (September 4, 2005) - Dennis Park posted a wire-to-wire victory in Sunday night's 25-lap American Sprint Car Series Rocky Mountain Region feature at Thomas County Speedway.
The feature got off to a rocky start as Bryan Jamison destroyed his mount after an encounter with the fronstretch wall on the first attempt, with rookie shoe Josh Fellows flipping as well on the next try. There were no injuries.
With the carnage out of the way, Park jumped into the lead from his outside front row starting position and set the pace. Looking for a weekend sweep, Jason Martin was closing on Park as lapped traffic came into play.
The red flag would fly after 14 laps however, when Kyle Ray was launched out of the ballpark. Ray escaped uninjured.
Park took off on the restart and led the rest of the way to score the win, with Martin settling for second. Gary Taylor claimed third, with Patrick Bourke and Joe McCarthy rounding out the top five.
Mike Peters crossed the stripe sixth, with Sid Blandford, Jr., current series point leader Eric Miller, Brett Ream and Scott Cochran completing the top ten.
Martin, Blandford, McCarthy, Park and C.J. Johnson topped heat race action for the 32-car field, with Miller winning the "B" Main.
