ASCS Rocky Mountain Region Lid Lifter this Saturday
TULSA, Okla. (May 9, 2005) -- The sixth and final 2005 season opener for the American Sprint Car Series takes place this Saturday night, as the ASCS Rocky Mountain Region kicks off the season at Sweetwater Speedway in Rock Springs, WY.
Saturday's event atop the high-banked, 3/8-mile Sweetwater Speedway clay oval marks the first of 21 scheduled stops at eleven different tracks throughout Wyoming, New Mexico, Colorado, South Dakota and Kansas for the ASCS Rocky Mountain Region in 2005.
Thornton, Colorado's Keith Rauch enters the 2005 season as the reigning ASCS Rocky Mountain Region champion after edging fellow Thornton shoe Eric Miller by a mere four points for the 2004 crown. In his second year of Sprint Car racing action, Jake Pierson claimed third in '04 points, with Jeremy Sheaffer and Jace Pennetta rounding the top five.
Other top ASCS Rocky Mountain Region contenders expected to be in action for Saturday night's openenr include Gary Taylor, Jeff Heffner, Scott Milan, John Jacob, Willy Hernandez, Larry Lapoint and Mark Sweet.
Saturday night's racing action is slated to get under way at 7:00 p.m. Sweetwater Speedway is located off Wyoming's I-80 Exit 104, then 0.9 miles north on US 191 (Elk St.), then 1.1 miles west on Yellowstone Road. For more information, contact the track at 307-352-6789, ext. 200.
