ASCS Rocky Mountain Region ready for Rapid City kickoff

TULSA, Okla. (May 5, 2003) - The American Sprint Car Series Rocky Mountain Region is set to kick off its 2003 racing season at Black Hills Speedway in Rapid City, SD, this Friday night, May 9.

Mike Dreiling of Highlands Ranch, CO, is ready to defend his 2002 ASCS Rocky Mountain Region title, which he claimed in a tight battle with Rapid City's Randi Miller. Miller, who notched the most feature triumphs on the ASCS Rocky Mountain Region trail in 2002, topped the series' lone visit to Black Hills Speedway last year.

This Friday night's opener marks the first of three nights of racing for the ASCS Rocky Mountain Region Tour at Black Hills Speedway, as the series will wrap up its season in September with a two-day show atop the semi-banked half-mile dirt oval.

Dreiling and Miller will face plenty of competition this Friday night, with top contenders expected to be on hand including Eric Miller, Jace Pennetta, Jeremy Sheaffer and Patrick Bourke among many others.

Friday night's opener marks the first of 26 nights of racing for the ASCS Rocky Mountain Region in 2003 throughout South Dakota, Kansas, Wyoming, New Mexico, Colorado and Montana.

Black Hills Speedway is located three miles south of South Dakota's I-90 Exit 61, then one-half mile east on SR 44, then north. For more information, contact the track at 605-393-1552 or 605-393-1392.
