ASCS ROCKY MOUNTAIN SCHEDULE RELEASED

TULSA, Okla. (January 20, 2009) -- After another successful season of racing action in 2008, the American Sprint Car Series Rocky Mountain Region slate of events for 2009 has been released.

The ninth year of competition for the ASCS Rocky Mountain Region is currently slated for a dozen nights of action at five tracks throughout Wyoming, Montana, South Dakota and New Mexico with another pair of dates yet to be determined.

The series is set to kick off the 2009 season with a two-night stand at Sweetwater Speedway in Rock Springs, WY, on June 12-13. The series makes a return to Sweetwater Speedway on August 22, one night after its lone appearance of the year at Casper Speedway.

The Rocky Mountain Region will square off against the ASCS Northwest Region on June 26-27 at Electric City Speedway in Great Falls, MT, before making a return to Great Falls for a stand-alone Rocky Mountain double on September 5-6.

The series is also set for a pair of stops at Black Hills Speedway in Rapid City, SD, on July 10 and August 28, with the season finale set for New Mexico's Aztec Speedway on September 18-19.

Albuquerque's Derrik Ortega became the ASCS Rocky Mountain Region's eighth different champion in as many years by capturing the series title in 2008 and becoming the youngest champion in American Sprint Car Series history in the process.
