HOFFMAN AUTO RACING ANNOUNCES NASCAR STAR TO DRIVE THE TEAM "BIG CAR"
RYAN NEWMAN TO DRIVE KROGER/TIDE/BOUNTY/PRINGLES
Loveland, OH (Sept 6, 2006) -- Hoffman Auto Racing announced today that NASCAR star Ryan Newman will drive the Team's "Big Car" (old style Silver Crown Car) at O'Reilly's Raceway Park in the PRA race on 9/13.
"It will be a thrill to see Ryan in our Kroger/Tide/Bounty/Pringles/MOPAR Car. We competed with Ryan in his years in the USAC Sprint and Silver Crown series. Now we can admire his driving skills in our family car. We have followed Ryan's career with great pride knowing that his success has been a real Newman family effort," said Richard Hoffman, President of Hoffman Racing.
Ryan Newman is a 2001 Purdue University graduate with a degree in vehicle structure engineering. He began his USAC career in 1995 and won rookie of the year honors in the National Midget Series and again the next year in the Silver Crown Series. In '99 he was the Silver Crown Series National Champion . Ryan's association with Roger Penske began in 2000. Ryan won his first Cup race in 2002. He has won 34 Bud Poles since 2002.
Hoffman Auto Racing (HAR) competes in the Sprint Car and Silver Crown Divisions of the United States Auto Club (USAC). HAR was founded in 1929 by August (Gus) Hoffman. Three generations of Hoffman's are involved with the Team, including Gus's great grandchildren A.J. and Lauren, who have begun their quartermidget careers. HAR is the all time leader in USAC National Sprint Car Team victories with 67, and National Championships with 8. Hoffman Auto Racing is currently in contention for the 2006 Championship. HAR also has 7 Silver Crown victories, for a total of 74 National wins. HAR celebrates 77 years of competition this year.
