TULSA, Okla. (May 8, 2006) -- A huge crowd is expected at McKean County Raceway in Smethport, PA, this Saturday night as the Bobcat of Buffalo ASCS Patriot Sprint Group makes its first appearance atop the semi-banked, 1/3-mile clay oval.
It also marks the return of Sprint Car racing to McKean County Raceway for the first time since August 2002, when Ontario, New York's Mike Stelter raced to victory lane. Stelter finished third in the recent 2006 season opening event for the ASCS Patriot Sprint Group.
Stelter chased the "Cobra", Chuck Hebing, also of Ontario, NY, and Antwerp, NY, racer Jeff Cook to the line in the April 30 opener at Utica-Rome Speedway. While it was Hebing's first career win under the ASCS banner, it also marked his tenth career win in Patriot Sprint Group action.
Hebing sits atop the point charts entering the event in front of Cook, Stelter and defending series champion Bryan Howland of Auburn, NY. Mike Van Dusen enters the event ranked fourth in points, with rookie contender Jason Barney ranked sixth after a strong outing in his Sprint Car debut.
The balance of the current top ten includes Jared Zimbardi, Blake Breen, Rick Wilson and John Smith III.
Saturday's racing action is set to get under way at 7:00 p.m.
