ASCS PATRIOTS RELEASE 2007 SCHEDULE OF EVENTS

TULSA, Okla. (January 15, 2007) - The ASCS Patriot Region is ready to embark on its fifth season of showcasing the finest sprint car racing the Northeast has to offer. And to make this happen, a "knock-out" schedule for 2007 has been released.

A 33-race schedule was announced at the 21st Annual O'Reilly Chili Bowl Midget Nationals this past weekend for the second season of the Patriots running under the American Sprint Car Series banner. It is a schedule that has more highlights than a hair salon.

It was released a week ago that the ASCS Patriots begin and end the championship point races at New York's Fulton Speedway, a track that the Patriots were not at in 2006 but have been in the past. Not only Fulton is returning to the schedule, but Thunder Alley and Cayuga County have returned after a year hiatus.

Two tracks featured on the schedule return for the first time since the Patriot's inaugural season of 2003. Humberstone Speedway, which was known as Gasport Speedway in 2003, will feature the second-to-last point race of the season. Eriez Speedway, which hosted the second-ever Patriot event in 2003, will return in June to be paired with another track, yet to be released, the night before.

Two other tracks return to remain the only two speedways to host an ASCS Patriot event all five years. Both of these tracks, Ransomville and Canandaigua, have added second shows in August, which will each serve as Genesee Speedway Scramble Qualifiers for a dash event later that month.

The August 3rd event at Ransomville will be run in conjunction with the ASCS 360 Nationals in Knoxville, IA, a new concept that ASCS Patriot Director Mike Emhof was happy to achieve in his first year of leadership.

"We are likely to have just a few guys run out at Knoxville," noted Emhof. "So for the rest of the guys we will be able to have a great race at a great track."

This event will be a full-points show, with those heading out to Knoxville receiving their average amount of points for representing ASCS Patriots.

The 5/8-mile Rolling Wheels Raceway and 0x00bc-mile Brockville Speedway will run two ASCS Patriot point shows for the first time in one season in 2007, clearly showcasing the various styles of 360-sprint car racing the ASCS Patriots bring to the table this season.

McKean County Raceway attempted to run three ASCS Patriot shows in 2006, a plan that was thwarted at all but one of those shows. The Smethport, PA, track is back on the schedule for 2007 for the third race of the season on May 12.

Other key events on the 2007 schedule include three co-sanctioned events with the newly formed ASCS Mid-Atlantic Region. Two of these events will take place at Penn Can Speedway, including the $2,000-to-win ASCS North/South Shootout. Black Rock Speedway will also play host to a co-sanctioned event during Nextel Cup Weekend at Watkins Glen International.

Speaking of Black Rock, they will play host to the first-ever ASCS National Tour event in the Northeast on May 18 and 19. The New York Sprint Nationals will showcase the best from ASCoT, as well as those from around the area in a big money weekend. Black Rock has run a major sprint car race, formally known as the Bully Hill Vineyards Fall Sprint Nationals, every year since 1999, but this in all likelihood will have the best field in it's storied history.

The ASCoT Series will also run in the area the following week in Pennsylvania and Virginia, to complete their Eastern Week of Speed.

The only track in 2007 that the ASCS Patriots have never run at before will be Genesee Speedway. Former Patriot competitor Mike Lauterborn is now in command of this facility and will host the ESS/ ASCS Patriot Challenge on August 26th.

The schedule is completed with two major events at the end of the year including the 3rd Annual Arrow Express Canadian Sprint Car Nationals at the Ohsweken Speedway on September 15. Ohsweken will also play host to an ASCS Patriot point event on July 6. Rolling Wheels Raceway will once again run the popular ESS/URC/ASCS Patriot Challenge during Super DIRT Week 36.

"Our goal was to put 20-point races on the schedule, and that is exactly what we have done," said Emhof. "This schedule is going to benefit the racers which is going to mean better attendance and therefore better shows for the race fan. It's going to be a great season."

The ASCS Patriots can first be seen at the Carquest Motorsports Expo at the New York State Fairgrounds in Syracuse, NY, March 9-11. At least five ASCS Patriot cars and competitors and drivers will be on hand all weekend, including defending champion Chuck Hebing, 2005 champ Bryan Howland, Nick Bashford, Geoff Quackenbush and Jared Zimbardi.

All of those competitors, as well as Don Adamczyk, Chris Muhleisen, Ray Preston, 2004 Champion George Suprick and a slew of others will be gunning for the 2007 Championship in what appears to be the most exciting season yet!
