Spring Run, PA - Path Valley Speedway Park honored nine feature winners in a thrilling night or racing that ended by midnight Friday. The top winners were Brandon Grandstaff of Strasburg VA in the 270cc Sprints and Jason Schultz of Chambersburg in the 305V-8 Sprints who each won their second feature.
Mike Rosenberry of Willow Hill was a double winner as he won first the Coors and Coors Light Loudon NH NASCAR Excursion and then the Mini Stock Mechanic's Race.
Tim Tomson of Lewisberry won his sixth feature of the season in the Central PA Legends Cars. In the stock car support classes the regular feature wins went to Weston Alleman of Newburg in the V-8 Street Stocks, Arlin Brougher of Gettysburg in the mini stocks and Keith Walls of St. Thomas in the four-cylinder thunder cars.
The three Mechanic's Race winners were Rosenberry, Tony Linn of Roxbury in the four-cylinder thunder cars and Paul Morgan of Halifax in the street stocks.
Two spectacular crashes thrilled the fans and slowed the racing. Frequent Friday and Saturday night winner Randy Baughman opened the night with a head-on into the turn two light after a new driver slid up into him in the first 270 Sprints heat race, and to close the night Jason Halder rode the #25 street stock head-on into the turn one exit catch fence post when his throttle stuck in the mechanic's race. Both were only shaken and Grandstaff made repairs and returned for the feature.
The points race season has been extended to Sept. 14 because of the rainout August 31. The 358 Late Models will be the guest class next Friday night. The following Friday, Sept. 21, features Powder Puff races for the ladies who do not drive in a regular division. Points races for the Saturday night sprints and Legends continue until Sept. 23 because several classes were late getting started. The track races until the middle of October and the season climaxes with the Four-Cylinder Shootout for $1000 to win on Sept. 29.
The Second Annual Path Valley Speedway Park Combined Awards Banquet will be Saturday, Nov. 3, at the Pleasant Hall Fire Co. with doors open at 5 p.m. Tickets are limited to 400 and available from the track on a first-come first-sold basis.
