NST Running Double A-Mains at Susky

After spirited conversation, the National Sprint Tour has decided to run a different racing program at its Susquehanna show on August 3, 2006. With promoter Todd Fisher's blessing, the NST will run its normal round of qualifying, followed by heats, dashes to set the first six rows, B Main, then a 25 lap A main. This first A main will pay 75% of the normal purse. Further, the first A Main will also be a full points race . Following the first A Main, there will be an approximate 15 minute break to weigh the finishers and put in fuel, but no new right rear tires. Then, the entire field will return to the track for a 15 lap "A Plus Main". The field will be set as follows: all cars on the lead lap of the first A main will be inverted; all cars not on the lead lap will start behind the inverted field. The purse will be for the balance of the 25% not paid in the first A Main, AND, all drivers will receive 2 points for every position they improve from their starting position.

We at the NST hope you'll attend the Susquehanna race, and please let us know what you think of this one-time format change. As Lonnie Parsons of the #6 Casey's General Store car driven by Dean Jacobs put it: "I know what the fans are going to think: they'll love it. And rightfully so. I think it will be exciting to try something a little different, and how could there be anything wrong with encouraging passing. Knoxville used to do something like this and those sure were exciting races. I hope our fans at Susky enjoy it."
