ASCS Adds Northern Plains Region for 2006

TULSA, Okla. (November 1, 2005) -- The American Sprint Car Series has added another Region to the fold for the 2006 season, as the Northern Plains Region will initiate operations next season.

Chuck Zitterich has been named the coordinator for the new ASCS Northern Plains Region, with approximately 14-16 races throughout North Dakota, South Dakota, Minnesota and Canada expected for 2006.

The Northern Plains Region will join the existing National Tour and the Sooner, Gulf South, Rocky Mountain, Midwest and Southern Regions, along with the recently acquired Sprints on Dirt series.

"We've got a base of over 200 sprint cars in the Region to draw from," Zitterich commented. "The news of the new ASCS Northern Plains Region has already 'leaked' out so to speak, and the response from the area is very exciting. I think a lot of people are looking forward to the 2006 season and the new ASCS Region up here."

It is expected that a tentative schedule for the ASCS Northern Plains Region will be available by January 1, 2006. There is also a possibility of a Northern Plains "Speedweek" for the 2006 National American Sprint Car Series on Tour.

The American Sprint Car Series sanctioned nearly 100 nights of racing in 2005 with the existing National Tour and Sooner, Gulf South, Rocky Mountain, Midwest and Southern Regions. With an expanded National Tour and the addition of the Sprints on Dirt and Northern Plains Regions, the number of sanctioned events will nearly double to 200 nights of racing in 2006.
