ASCS Northern Plains Ready for Cedar Lake Speedway
TULSA, Okla. (July 10, 2007) -- In the midst of a busy month of activity, the American Sprint Car Series Northern Plains Region makes its first appearance at Cedar Lake Speedway in New Richmond, WI, this Saturday night.
And leading the way into Saturday's card is defending series champion Chuck Swenson of Watertown, SD. But not by much.
Swenson holds a meager two-point lead over Harwood, North Dakota's Lee Grosz. After finishing fourth in ASCS Northern Plains Region points last year, the 19-year-old Grosz came ever so close to capturing his first career series victory this past weekend before settling for second at the line.
Last year's ASCS Northern Plains runner-up, Eric Lutz of Sioux Falls, SD, enters Saturday's card ranked third, with Dave Glennon of Casselton, ND, and Jody Rosenboom of Sioux Falls rounding out the current top five.
Saturday's action atop the high-banked, 3/8-mile Cedar Lake Speedway clay oval fires off at 7:00 p.m.
Cedar Lake Speedway is located at 2275 County Rd. CC in New Richmond, WI. For more information, contact the track at 715-248-7119 or Toll Free at 866-4-CLS-FUN.
The ASCS Northern Plains Region 2007 slate consists of 22 events at eleven different tracks throughout Minnesota, South Dakota, Nebraska, Iowa and Wisconsin.
The 2007 season marks the 16th year of sanctioning Sprint Car racing for the American Sprint Car Series. With a dozen different Regions in addition to the O'Reilly American Sprint Cars on Tour National series, ASCS will sanction approximately 240 nights of racing at more than 100 different race tracks throughout at least 30 different states and Canada.
