ASCS Northern Plains Adds Huset's "Cheater's Day" Classic
TULSA, Okla. (August 29, 2006) -- The American Sprint Car Series Northern Plains Region has added a two-day season finale to its inaugural campaign in the form of Huset's Speedway's famed "Cheater's Day Classic" in Sioux Falls, SD, on Saturday and Sunday, September 23 and 24.
The ASCS Northern Plains Region will complete a full card on both Saturday and Sunday of the 42nd Annual Cheater's Day event, with both features offering up $1,500 to win and $250 to start. A "Cheater's Day" point fund will be distributed to the top drivers over the two-day special as well.
With a pair of exceptions, ASCS procedures and rules will be in effect.
One exception is that all competitors will be required to run 25% Ethanol, which will be available at the track. Also, in keeping with longstanding "Cheater's Day" tradition, the exotic wings and side panels that many competitors add to their machines will be allowed.
The Saturday, September 23, event will get under way at 7:00 p.m, with the Sunday card firing off at 3:00 p.m.
With the added season finale, in which the inaugural ASCS Northern Plains champion will be determined, the first season of ASCS Northern Plains Regional racing action now consists of 22 nights of racing at eleven different tracks throughout Iowa, Minnesota, Nebraska, North Dakota, South Dakota and Wisconsin.
In its 15th year of sanctioning Sprint Car racing in the United States, the American Sprint Car Series will present approximately 180 nights of racing at nearly 100 tracks throughout 27 different states and Canada in 2006 including the National Tour and its Regional Tours (Gulf South, Mid-South, Midwest, Northern Plains, Patriot Sprint Group, Rocky Mountain, Sooner, Southern and Sprints on Dirt).
