Sponsors Up The Ante For Rahmer's Sprint Show

New Egypt, NJ (May 28) -- In his rookie attempt at race promotion, Sprint car driver Fred Rahmer has come up with a winning formula -- with a little help from his friends.

The Philadelphia Inquirer has partnered with Rahmer to present the powerful 410 Sprints at New Egypt Speedway on Wednesday night, June 16. And a slew of other sponsors have signed on to make the Sprints-only showcase a truly special event.

Tobias Speed Equipment, Lebanon, PA, will reward the fastest time trialer with $250. Carl Harz Furniture, CnB Mushroom Co., Westpoint Welding Supply and Automotive Tire & Service are sponsoring the heat races, which will pay $200 to win. In addition, by random draw, one qualified car in each heat race will receive a right-rear tire, courtesy of McCreary. K.L Harring Transport, Bethel, PA, is putting up $500 to win the non-qualifier's event. And $1,000 will be on the line in the Australian Pole Shuffle, an entertaining series of elimination runs to determine the feature polesitter, sponsored by Media Camping Center of Hatfield, PA. The 30-lap feature event pays $3,000 to the winner, $1,000 for 10th, and $300 to take the green.

"With all this money on the line, between 12-15 guys can leave with $1,000," Rahmer said. "A heat winner who finishes 11th or 12th can still make $1,000."

The June 16 show at New Egypt, which has a June 17 raindate, is the only scheduled New Jersey appearance of the 410 Sprint cars this year. Gates open at 4 p.m., with warm-ups scheduled for 6:45 p.m. and time trials at 7:15. General admission tickets are $18 for adults, $10 for seniors 65+, and $6 for children ages 7-12. Call (609) 758-1900 for more information.
