Sodus, New York - Fred Kaempffe, owner of Branich Motorsports, in conjunction with Fulton (NY) Speedway, announced this week plans for the Mid-Summer Mini Sprint Sizzler. Patterned after the successful 1999 Six Gun Shootout races that were promoted by Branich Motorsports, the Sizzler will be held on July 15th at the Harvey Fink-promoted facility. The race will be sanctioned by Central New York Mini Sprints (CNYMS), Inc.
Lessord's Chrysler Products, Inc. of Sodus, NY, and Papa Joe's Restaurant, of Sodus Point, NY, will team up to co-sponsor the special mini sprint event. Both sponsored Six Gun events in 1999, and their support of the Sizzler reaffirms their commitment to mini sprint racing in the central NY region. The mini sprint feature race will pay $650 to win, and $75 to take the green flag, based on a 24-car field. Several contingency sponsors have signed on to support the race. Seymour Enterprises (Marlboro, Massachusetts) will provide a gift certificate to the highest finisher in the race who has not already won a certificate on the regular CNYMS tour. Bicknell Racing Products (Niagara Falls, NY) will provide a gift certificate to a feature finisher. Weld Wheels (Kansas City, MO) will provide a gift certificate to the race Hard Charger. Negotiations continue for addition contingency awards. The race is open to 1200 cc as well as 750 cc powered machines, and there will be a $50 bonus to the first 750 across the finish line in the feature.
Fulton Speedway is well suited for mini sprint racing. The Sizzler is expected to attract mini sprint racers from all over the northeast, and the racing should be competitive, fast and furious.
The race entry fee will be $35 per car for all drivers holding a valid mini sprint license (CNYMS, AMSA, Outlaw Mini Sprints, etc.). All non-qualifiers will receive $25 in tow money. CNYMS rules will apply to the race.
In addition, Fulton Speedway will run its regular program on July 15th. In the event of bad weather, a raindate for the Sizzler has been set for July 29th.
