ASCS Mid-South Season Finale Cancelled

TULSA, Okla. (October 16, 2006) -- This Saturday night's scheduled season finale for the American Sprint Car Series Mid-South Region at Poplar Bluff Speedway in Poplar Bluff, MO, has been cancelled and will not be rescheduled for this year.

With the cancellation, Bixby, Oklahoma's Darren Stewart comes away with the inaugural ASCS Mid-South Region championship, taking the title by a 127-point margin over Bryce Vowan. Finishing third in points, just 13 markers behind Vowan, is Byhalia, MS, racer Dale Howard.

The 2006 slate for the ASCS Mid-South Region consisted of six different events, with six different drivers visiting victory lane. In addition to Stewart, who won the September 3 event at Magnolia Motor Speedway in Columbus, MS, other '06 ASCS Mid-South Region feature winners included Gary Wright, Dale Howard, Jason Johnson, Travis Rilat and Tim Crawley.
